Thanlyin is a major port city of Myanmar, located across Bago River from the city of Yangon. It comprises 17 quarters and 28 village tracts. It is home to the largest port in the country, Thilawa port. Drive to Thanlyin for two hours and then start sightseeing to Thanlyin(Syriam )across the Yangon river via Thanlyin Bridge built by Chinese Engineer. Visit ancient Portuguese Church (AD 1749-1750) where you can observe some parts of the history of Myanmar. During Portuguese Age, the first Catholic Church was built in Myanmar, however it was destroyed by the Burmese king after they recaptured Thanlyin,nevertheless ruins of the old church is still remained there. Next, proceed to busy local market and Kyauk Tan Yele Pagoda (Middle Stream Island Pagoda). Then, drive back to Yangon and transfer to hotel or airport.
