Downtown Yangon (also known as the Yangon Central Business District) is created as a Yangon City Heritage List of old buildings and structures in the city that cannot be modified or torn down without approval. At the centre of downtown is the crossroads of Sule Pagoda Road and Mahabandoola Road with Mahabandoola Park which has Independence Monument, a large white obelisk. Some of the downtown architectural highlights include City Hall, The High Court, Post Office & Custom Office & so on.
